Welcome Letter from Ishtar Beck, MA, RCC:
Our end-of-summer support group will offer a space of self-exploration, sharing, and witnessing.
A soft spot to land with whatever is happening right now.
A circle in which mental-emotional health is prioritized.
While this group is a support group and not a therapy group, we will rely on the humanistic principle of witnessing each other. Witnessing can be therapeutic in and of itself. Seeing others, and being seen by others, is a powerful practice.
Each week, we will engage in a simple Expressive Arts Therapy exercise. Each participant will be asked to prepare for the group by identifying a piece of art that is resonant with your experience right now, and being ready to reflect and/or journal about it. These pieces of art do not have to be shared with others.
WEEK 1 : a song OR piece of music
WEEK 2 : a poem OR a meme
WEEK 3 : a piece of visual art
WEEK 4 : a found object
In our online trauma-informed space, each participant will take responsibility for their own well-being. This means being aware of your capacity, needs, and wants. This means participating as much or as little as you feel you need to. Essentially, this means taking care of your own self-regulation.
Location: Online/Zoom
Dates: Thursdays 12:00-1:15 pm PT - August 14th, August 21st, August 28th, September 4th.
Fees: $100 per person for four sessions ($25/session). Registration for all four sessions is required.
Nobody will be turned away because of financial obstacles. Payment plans will be made available upon request. A limited number of spots at a sliding scale fee may also be available. BC residents only.
