lynn loo

(she/her) Lynn will be working at Ciel until December 2025.

Hello! My name is Lynn. I am a queer woman of colour who moved to Canada from Australia with my dog, Pikachu. I am humbled and grateful to be living on the traditional, unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations.

Along with my passion for travel and playful humour, my diverse background allows me to connect with people from all walks of life.  I value community and am passionate about social justice issues.  I recognize that our backgrounds and identities contribute to very different lived experiences, but believe they are our greatest strengths, as well as tools for connection and growth.

My counselling style is guided by my core values of gentle curiosity, compassion, authenticity, and openmindedness.  As such, my therapeutic approach is rooted in a relational, strength-based framework, drawing on various techniques to support your unique self.

I believe that no matter the circumstances, you are the expert of your life.  My goal is to walk alongside you as we deepen your understanding of self, consider different perspectives, and explore ways to reach your desired goals.  I celebrate your courage in seeking counselling, and I look forward to holding space for you!

negar amini

(she/her) Negar will be working at Ciel until August 2026.

As a cisgender, heterosexual woman of color who immigrated to Vancouver, BC during my formative teenage years, I bring a deeply intersectional perspective to my social justice-oriented practice. My lived experience of navigating both privilege and oppression provides me with firsthand understanding of the complex dynamics my clients may face. This allows me to approach therapeutic relationships with empathy and cultural humility.

Residing on the unceded Coast Salish territories, I am particularly committed to supporting individuals, women, mothers, and couples as they navigate life's transitions—whether related to immigration, cultural adaptation, identity integration, and perinatal journey. Through a trauma-informed lens, we cultivate mindful awareness and self-compassion while acknowledging your feelings and experiences, empowering you to confront challenges, explore emotions, build inner strength and expand capacity to live more fully within your communities and value systems.

As a counsellor in training, I hold space to serve as a guide and companion on the mind-body journey toward self-awareness, integration, capacity development, and transformation. Drawing from person-centered therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, my previous training in developmental psychology and my years of yoga studies, I aim to support clients to discover their resilience, potential and inner wisdom through present-moment awareness.

My work is trauma and nervous-system informed. My approach is somatically attuned and honours your inherent wisdom through embodied awareness. Grounded in somatic psychology, person-centered therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I support clients in connecting with their authentic selves and values. I aim to co-create a space where you may feel free to fully you and fully present.

iyla owens

(she/her) Iyla will be working at Ciel until August 2026.

Hi! My name is Iyla (she/her). I am a fifth generation white settler with British Isles ancestry, residing on the unceded, ancestral and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓wətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

My identities as a queer, neurodivergent, cis-gender femme as well as my experiences in peer-based community support, frontline mental health services, and community organizing inform my approach to therapeutic work. As a disabled and chronically ill practitioner, I believe that trauma is political; our belief systems about ourselves and the world are deeply shaped by the ways in which we internalize systems of oppression such as ableism, racism and homophobia. I am passionate about supporting people to cultivate a deeper felt sense of agency through connecting with their experiences in ways that feel safe, accessible and attuned.

My frameworks of counselling practice are trauma-informed, attachment-based, and rooted in social justice and collective liberation. I draw from lineages of mindfulness, somatics, and Disability Justice in co-creating a supportive relational container that centres your autonomy while honouring your pace. Whether you are navigating interpersonal issues, unravelling family of origin patterns, building self-regulation strategies, or accessing resources while experiencing systemic barriers, I value creating a space to pause, breathe, rest, and dream into what is possible for you in your life.

In my personal life, creative and artistic expression brings me a lot of joy- some favourites include mixed media collage art, paper and candle making using plant materials, and creating hand-bound journals. I strive to bring a creative approach to sessions, and look forward to collaborating with you in exploring your intentions for counselling!

elizabeth schweizer

(she/her) Elizabeth will be working at Ciel until December 2025.

Hi, I’m Liz (she/her), a second-generation uninvited settler living on the unceded traditional territory of the  xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations with Italian and French-Canadian heritage. I was born and raised in East Vancouver and feel connected to the Commercial Drive community.

I believe that caring for others involves a genuine curiosity about each person’s unique story and personal journey. As a counsellor, I aim to provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you feel supported in exploring all of life’s questions, challenges, and possibilities. I view counselling as a collaborative process—a space where you can navigate life’s complexities with support, and work toward a deeper sense of clarity and self-confidence. My therapeutic approach is person-centred and strength-based, drawing on various modalities, including Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I am currently completing my Master of Counselling degree. Prior to this, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Philosophy from the University of British Columbia. Outside the counselling field, I am passionate about travel, art, and yoga — all practices that inspire me and have shaped my understanding of the human experience.

teala penner

(she/her) Teala will be working at Ciel until August 2026.

Hello, My name is Teala (she/her). A fifth generation white settler who has the privilege  to live, love, work, and play on the unceded, ancestral, and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓wətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. I am a cis-gender,  neurodivergent settler of Eastern European descent, and I am committed to practicing with cultural humility and a deep awareness of the privileges I hold. I strive to bring this awareness of place, history, and social location into my work.

My path to counselling has been shaped by a diverse background in theatre, addictions treatment, front-line support, and case management. For me, these experiences all share a common thread: a belief that healing and growth happen in relation with others. Through connection, we can explore the stories that shape us and build new ways of being. I see the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership where you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to offer a supportive, non-judgmental, and consent-oriented space for exploration.

My approach is primarily relational and person-centered, grounded in an anti-oppressive framework that acknowledges the impact of systemic forces on our mental health and well-being. I aim to work with you to cultivate curiosity and compassion for all parts of yourself.

I am currently completing my Master of Counselling degree. My previous education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and History, followed by several years living abroad, where I directed, designed, and performed in theatre as well as taught. This work deepened my understanding of story, identity, and the shared human experience—perspectives I continue to carry into my practice. I look forward to welcoming you.
